| • When we remodeled our office this past year we replaced all of our lighting. We decided to go with more efficient bulbs. The bulbs we use put out way less heat and use much less electricity. They are 93% more efficient when compared to regular light bulbs. The new bulbs also last 7 to 10 years. This allows for fewer raw materials to be used, and decreases the time needed for making new bulbs.
• We make special efforts to recycle all paper, cardboard, plastic, steel and aluminum pop cans.
• We reuse boxes and packaging materials that we receive for our outgoing shipping when plausible.
• We get as much out of our paper as possible. We are always sure to print on both sides of every sheet before we even consider discarding it. At that point we donate the paper to Rhein Benninghoven, a local grade school. The school then recycles the paper and any money made from it is given to the PTA.
• All of our plastic trays from frozen dinners are donated to Rhein Benninghoven’s art classes. After they have used them for projects the school then recycles the plastic.
• The tabs from all pop cans are removed and saved to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. For every 1 gallon of pop tabs donated, the Ronald McDonald House pays for a life-saving surgery.
• All empty ink cartridges are donated to Shawnee Mission West high school. They send them to a company that collects phones and ink cartridges. The school gets paid for each cartridge or phone they contribute.
• We are always looking for new ways to be efficient and recycle.
