Includes a detailed, professionally written, service industry specific Chart of Accounts. Each account includes a complete description that explains the appropriate usage of that account. Of course you can modify it or create your own. You are allowed to rename or renumbers any account & even ones that have been used or have balances. You may also enter beginning balances.

Adjusting Journal Entries Made Simple

Total Office Manager® accounting allows you to easily make Adjusting Journal Entries just like the experts do. The adjusting journal entry form allows you to make general journal adjustments or changes to your account balances safely and simply.

Bookkeeping and accounting experts use adjusting journal entries to add or access bank fees, taking discounts, transferring money, entering accumulated depreciation.

The Journal Entry form has been greatly simplified without taking anyway any of the power. The quick tips at the bottom of the form help you make the correct decisions.

General Journal

This feature is similar to the "register" feature found in some accounting software but much better. Total Office Manager's General Journal includes far more details, power, and options than a plain old register or even a General Ledger.

Use the General Journal to view a detailed list of all transactions that have taken place in Total Office Manager. The General Journal displays every purchase, sales, deposit, etc. For example, when you make a sale and save an invoice, Total Office Manager will add entries to the register which include a line item (an entry into the register) for every account that was affected in ANY way by the sale. All income COGS, discounts, etc., will be shown. The General Journal is like a piece of diagnostic equipment that allows you to see the actual inter-workings of the accounting engine.

Accountants and sophisticated bookkeepers use the General Journal to analyze their accounting records . The General Journal makes it possible to locate problems and fix them. If you cannot figure out why your financial statements don't look right (maybe income is too low or rent is too high), the General Journal will show you the transaction, account affected, amounts, and the resulting balance.

Account Register

This form is the same type of feature found in top accounting software. It is like a bank register but far more powerful.

Use this handy form to view a chronological history of a specific account. Usually the account is a checking or other bank account but you can view any account from your chart of accounts.

Managers sometimes use this form to view bank deposits, review checks, and get their current bank balance. Accountants and bookkeepers often use this form (and others) to find transactions or fix problems.

Departmental Financial Statements

Departmentalized financial statements are a feature typically found is very high end accounting programs. Often, these programs are strong in accounting and weak in everything else. In addition to great dispatching and everything else, Total Office Manager™ includes a powerful accounting engine with features usually found in industrial strength accounting software. This includes departments.

You may setup an unlimited number of departments to track your income and profits. This allows your Profit and Loss Statement (and other documents) to be broken out by they type of work you do. Let's say your company has three main departments that include new construction, replacement, and service. Total Office Manager™ allows you to generate reports that include activities for each department. The benefit to you is a full understanding of where your profits (or losses) are coming from.

Unlike many other "high powered" accounting programs, Total Office Manager actually allows you to track not only income and cost of goods sold, but also expenses, assets, and liabilities. With Total Office Manager, you're not limited by five departments like some do. In addition, your department may be hierarchal. This is a very unusual feature!
