Key Responsibilities 

•  Develop, document, and execute test cases, scripts, and plans. 

• Perform functional, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing. 

• Collaborate closely with development and product teams to understand requirements and ensure quality at all stages of the software development lifecycle. 

• Identify, document, and track defects using tools like Jira. 

• Validate database integrity using SQL queries and ensure proper integration between components. 

• Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies. 

Qualifications 

Technical Skills 

1. Domain Knowledge: 

• Understanding of accounting principles and workflows. 

• Familiarity with accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero. 

1. Testing Tools: 

• Proficiency in Postman for API testing. 

• Experience with API documentation tools like Swagger or OpenAPI. 

1. API Testing: 

• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs. 

• Ability to test complex API workflows related to accounting operations (e.g., ledger entries, invoicing, tax calculations). 

• Familiarity with data formats like JSON, XML, and CSV. 

• Strong knowledge of HTTP status codes and error handling. 

1. Automation: 

• Experience with API test automation frameworks. 

• Familiarity with using Newman for Postman test automation. 

• Ability to integrate API testing into CI/CD pipelines. 

1. Data Validation: 

• Skills in validating data accuracy and consistency across APIs. 

• Understanding of database testing and SQL queries for backend validation. 

1. Microservices Knowledge: 

• Understanding of microservices architecture and inter-service communication. 

• Knowledge of messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka) used for asynchronous operations. 

1. Security Testing: 

• Familiarity with OAuth, JWT, and other API authentication methods. 

• Ability to identify common security vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, data exposure). 

Soft Skills 

1. Attention to Detail: 

• Strong focus on accuracy, especially in financial and accounting workflows. 

• Ability to spot discrepancies in financial data and API responses. 

1. Analytical Thinking: 

• Capacity to test edge cases and complex accounting scenarios.

• Experience working with developers, accountants, and product managers. 

• Clear and concise communication skills for reporting bugs and discussing workflows. 

Experience 

1. Work History: 

• Previous experience in QA roles, preferably in accounting or financial software. 

• Experience with Agile methodologies and sprint-based development. 

1. Project Experience: 

• Demonstrated experience with API-first, code-first applications. 

• Experience testing workflows in financial or transaction-heavy systems. 

Nice-to-Have Skills 

1. Accounting Expertise: 

• Basic understanding of tax rules, payroll, or invoicing processes. 

• Familiarity with common accounting terminologies and use cases. 

1. DevOps Knowledge: 

• Understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
