License Types in Arkansas
Class A
Covers the installation, repair, and maintenance of all heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems without any capacity limitations on BTUs or horsepower.
Class B
Covers HVAC/R work on air conditioning systems with up to 25 tons of cooling capacity, heating units up to 1 million BTUs/hour, and refrigeration systems up to 15 horsepower.
Class D
Covers sheet metal work specifically related to ductwork for HVAC/R systems. Holders are prohibited from selling, installing, or servicing the actual HVAC/R equipment.
Class E
Covers refrigeration work without horsepower limitations. Holders are prohibited from selling, installing, or servicing air conditioning or heating systems.
Class L
Covers service and maintenance work for contractors aged 65 or older who held a previous license. It is restricted to systems of 15 tons or less and prohibits new installations.
