Permissions and Disclosures - Aptora Mobile 360

You can say no to every one of these. The app keeps working. The one feature that needed the permission stops, and this page says which. You can change your mind later in your device’s settings.

Aptora Mobile 360 asks for a permission at the moment it first needs it, never at startup, and only for a feature your company has turned on. Nothing here is used for advertising, for analytics, or for anything other than the job described.
Location
Asked for when: the first time the app needs a position — because your company has switched on location sharing, because you tapped to show where you are on a map, or because a customer is signing a document and your company saves where that happened.
Used for: showing the office where their field staff are, alongside the trucks, while you are working. Finding you on a map and routing you to a job. Recording where a job’s photo was taken and where a signature was given.
Background: the web app cannot use your location in the background. It stops the moment the app is off screen — that is a limit of every browser, and the app does not try to work around it. Where your company uses the Aptora Mobile 360 Android app, that app reports while it is running, including with the screen off, and stops when you sign out. It does not restart by itself after your phone reboots, and it does not use Android’s background location permission.
If you say no: the office will not see where you are, “find me” on the map will not work, photos will not carry where they were taken, and signatures will be saved without a location. Nothing else changes and no work is lost.
Also worth knowing: location sharing is off unless your company switches it on, and it can only be switched on by an administrator — not by you, and not by a colleague. Sharing runs while you are signed in and stops when you sign out.
Camera
Asked for when: you tap Take Photo on a job, or open a barcode or serial number scanner.
Used for: attaching pictures to a work order, invoice or piece of equipment, and reading a barcode or a data plate so you do not have to type it.
If you say no: you can still add pictures from your gallery, and you can still type a barcode or serial number by hand.
The camera is never opened on its own. It runs when you tap to use it and stops when you leave the screen.
Photos and files
Asked for when: you tap Add from Phone to attach a picture or a document, or save a PDF the app produced.
Used for: letting you choose the file you want to attach, and saving a printout where you asked for it.
If you say no: you can still take photos with the camera, and you can still email a document instead of saving it.
The app does not browse your device. It sees only the files you pick in your device’s own picker.
Notifications
Asked for when: you turn notifications on under Settings, Notifications. Each phone or tablet is turned on separately, because the permission belongs to the device rather than to you.
Used for: telling you when the office schedules or dispatches a work order to you, even when the app is closed.
If you say no: nothing else changes. Your work still appears in the app; you just have to open it to see it.
Internet access
Aptora Mobile 360 does its work on your company’s server, so it needs a connection. There is no offline mode. On Android this permission is granted at installation and is not something you are asked about.
What the app never asks for
These are worth stating because their absence is a promise, not an oversight:

Changing your mind
On Android: Settings, then Apps, then Aptora Mobile 360, then Permissions. If you use the app in a browser rather than as an installed app, tap the padlock beside the address instead.
On iPhone or iPad: Settings, then Aptora Mobile 360. In Safari, use Settings, then Safari, then the setting for the site.
Turning a permission off does not delete what was already collected. To have that removed, see Your data.
